For this year’s event, instead of us all flocking to our local parks, Derby Parks invite you to join online for a free, fun-filled day and celebrate in true superhero style with Superhero Picnic at Home!
On Tuesday 28 July from 11am to 3pm, they will be sharing lots of activities, crafts and videos online for you to get involved with in your own home, not forgetting everyone’s favourite Superhero Picnic Lunch. So put on your best Superhero outfit, and prepare your tastiest sandwiches ready for a super day!
A full schedule of events will be released closer to the time. From getting active to getting crafty, you can be sure your kids will love some of the events planned. There will also be a range of great activities for you to do ahead of picnic day to help you to prepare. You’ll be able to download and colour in your own superhero mask, perfect for finishing off any super costume, and you can download and create your own bunting to hang up in your garden or living room to truly enjoy the festivities. Special superhero certificates will available for download so that you can print yours out and certify that you are a super superhero.
For this year’s picnic, Derby Parks also want to celebrate all of your heroes and they want to know who your hero is. It could be your mum, dad, aunty or uncle, or maybe it’s your local postal workers, park rangers or refuse collectors – whoever it is, celebrate the impact they have had in your life and say a huge thank you! Take a photo with them and, with their permission, share it on the Derby Parks social media pages, using the hashtag #MySuperhero. Post your photos in advance of the day, and they will be shared on the superhero wall to celebrate all of our Derby heroes.
